We had previously raised dachshunds, but our allergies had grown so bad that we had been forced to build an outside kennel for the two that we had. We had lost our last dachshund just weeks before moving to Ravenna in August 2000. We desperately wanted to add a dog to our new home, but I refused to have a family pet that would have to reside outside due to our allergies. I had heard that "non-allergic" dogs existed, so I turned to the Internet to search for a new family pet. The first AHT information I found was on Sweet Lucy's web site. Sweet Lucy's web site provides so much valuable information and encouragement for those of us who have severe allergic reactions to dogs. Soon I was on my way to getting my first AHT!
After investigating the AHT thoroughly, we brought Kisses home in February of 2001. We loved her so much that we brought Hershey home with us later that same year. They are simply wonderful and the three of us in the family who are allergic to dogs have no reaction to the AHT whatsoever. We would have missed so much if we had not found the American Hairless Terriers.
